Grocery market hiring for cashier jobs in Chicago

Posted on September 17, 2011

A popular grocery market said this week it plans on hiring hundreds for cashier jobs in Chicago, among other positions.

Mariano’s grocery, which opened a store at 333 Benton Place in the Lakeshore East Development, is looking to fill 450 full time and part time positions.

The store is a part of Roundy’s supermarkets. This store opening marks the fourth store of its kind.

There are three other stores at 3350 N. Western Ave. in Chicago, and in Arlington Heights and Vernon Hills.

The kinds of jobs available vary, but the Chicago Sun-Times reports the store is looking for everything from meat cutters to work in the butcher department to cake decorators to managers and cashiers.

The announcement is expected to boost the number of Illinois jobs.

The store’s big opening will be on Oct. 4.

The store plans on hiring many people to have operations running smoothly before the grand opening.
